Hello, my beautiful people! I hope you are having a wonderful day. If you are here, I am assuming you are going to a Korean wedding (perhaps in Korea) that is happening in the fall. Well then, you are at the right place! I am delighted to have you here to talk about the autumn look for both men and women. Autumn is a great season not only for getting married but also for having fun with your outfits. I had fun gathering some information for this article, so I hope you find some inspiration on what to wear to the fall Korean wedding.
Let’s get started by talking about the fall season for the wedding!
Fall Wedding Season Around the World
Did you know that the fall is the most popular season to get married around the world? In the U.S., the fall wedding is getting more and more popular in recent years. Over 40% of the weddings happened between September and November. In Canada, a whopping 20% of the people chose September in particular as the wedding date.
I was very surprised to learn that, because I thought the spring would be very popular as it is the season of blooming flowers, and the summer would be perfect for the outdoor beach wedding. But there are a few big reasons why couples choose the fall to get married: a good temperature, beautiful fall colors, and a great time between summer and winter holidays.

Fall in Korea
There used to be four distinct seasons in Korea: the spring, summer, autumn, and winter. However, the summer is getting hotter and longer, and the winter is getting colder. The autumn and the spring, as a result, are getting shorter and much appreciated. Now, the autumn season is considered as short as one month. However, if you are going to Korea in October and early November, you will be able to enjoy the fall season.
So what should we wear as guests at a Korean wedding?

A Little About Korean Weddings
1. Uniting Two Families
In Korea, a wedding is not just about the couple but about bringing together two families. You’ll see a lot of relatives from both sides because family is central to Korean culture.
2. A Formal Affair
Korean weddings are typically formal events held in wedding halls, hotels, or churches. The bride usually wears a long white dress and the groom wears a tuxedo. Unlike casual outdoor weddings in many Western cultures, Korean weddings are all about keeping things traditional and elegant.

3. Big Guest List
Korean weddings are large, usually with a guest list of anywhere from 150 to 250 guests—sometimes even more! The gathering includes not just relatives but also friends of the couple’s parents, often bringing their spouses and kids. That’s how the guest list grows quickly!
I’ve written a detailed blog post about Korean weddings in my blog post below, so feel free to check it out if you want to read more about it. 😊

Korean Wedding Attire for Guests | Dress Code for Men & Women
When attending any events, dressing for TOP (time, place, and occasion) is very important. Before diving into the wedding guest fashion look for the fall, let me tell you a little bit about the Korean wedding attire dos and don’ts.
Korean Wedding Attire Dos
✅ 1. Choose Formal or Semi-Formal Attire
A dress code for a Korean wedding is formal and semi-formal attire. You could even wear business attire to the Korean wedding. That’s not only considered polite but also a popular clothing choice.

Men can wear suits with sweaters and layer them with jackets.

A beautiful shirt dress can be great semi-formal attire to wear to a wedding.

It’s acceptable to wear business attire to the wedding, too.
✅ 2. Choose Smart Casual
If you don’t have any formal clothing, then choose a smart casual style. It’s dressing up your casual style.

Women can wear more varieties of colors, bigger jewelry, fashionable jackets, and skirts.

Men can also wear more colors than formal attire, with more comfortable shoes such as loafers, clean sneakers, or boots. Jackets, clean jeans, and well-maintained sweaters are okay.
✅ 3. Stylish yet Classy
You want to wear something stylish but still keep it classy. Choose clothing with natural materials, such as cotton, linen, or silk.

A formal suit with some fall colors and light fabric is perfect!

Have fun accessorizing your formal or semi-formal clothing with bags, scarves, and shoes.
✅ 4. Humble Clothing
Please choose clothing that is humble and does not show much skin. Humble clothing and a humble attitude will be much appreciated!

We recommend choosing a skirt that is at or below the knees.
Korean Wedding Attire Don’ts
Now let’s look at guest attire that we should avoid when attending weddings in Korea. (This applies to many other weddings in other parts of the world.)

❌ 1. All-Black Attires
All-black attire can be powerful, classy, and stylish. However, it’s best to avoid all-black attire at a Korean wedding.
In Korea and many parts of the world, people wear all-black attire to funerals. And wearing all-black clothing from head to toe can remind you of a funeral. It’s a beautiful wedding, so have fun and wear some colors! It’s okay to wear black clothes; just remember to add some colors to other accessories or shoes. Then you are good to go. 😊

❌ 2. White Attires
In most cases, brides will wear white at a Korean wedding, so steer clear of wearing all-white outfits. A little white in an outfit is fine, but avoid full white tops or skirts. If you’re unsure about an outfit, whether it has too much white or not, it’s better to skip it. You don’t want to stand out in wedding photos for the wrong reason!

✅ Just a little white piece of clothing as part of your outfit like here works okay.
If you want to wear light-colored clothes, go for beige or light shades. Also, many beautiful colors are perfect for the fall! Let’s take a look at them later in this article.

❌ 3. Flashy Clothing
It’s best to keep things simple and elegant for the wedding. Since it’s a special day for the wedded couple, we don’t want to wear anything too flashy that might draw attention away from them. Something a little more subtle would be perfect!
Please avoid using vibrant colors too much on your outfit or showing too much skin. Men should avoid wearing short shorts.

1. Wear Autumn Colors
For the wedding that is happening in the autumn, have fun with the fall colors! Rich colors that match the season and the scenery.

Earthy tones like deep reds, orange shades, browns, and mustard yellows are great choices. If you want more neutral and toned-down colors, there are beige, olive, and navy colors. These colors not only show the autumn vibe but also look elegant and appropriate for a formal event like a wedding in Korea.

Many shades of brown look cozy and fashionable to wear in the fall!
2. Wear Light & Warm
If you are going to Korea during the fall, I recommend you wear something light yet warm. The weather is quite pleasant and moderate, but it can be a little unpredictable. Mornings and evenings can get chilly, while afternoons are cool or even warm. Temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) in Seoul, but the temperature is getting more and more unpredictable in recent years. So please be prepared to add or remove some of the layers of your clothes.

Wear layers so you can adjust your clothing according to the changing temperatures.

My Tip on Clothing
One more thing to remember is that most Korean weddings happen indoors, such as in a wedding hall, a hotel, or a church, and they like to keep the temperature cool. Therefore, if you feel cold easily, wear warm clothes or bring a jacket.
💡A Little Tip at the Korean Wedding

You might want to avoid wearing a tight dress, skirt, or pants. Korean weddings usually offer a big buffet or a huge course meal as part of the wedding ceremony. In Korean culture, serving good food to guests at a party or an event is considered very important. So there will be a lot of good food, and I hope you enjoy it! If you wear tight clothes, it might feel uncomfortable while you are enjoying the feast.
I, for instance, wore an A-line medium-length skirt to still look fantastic even after finishing many plates at my brother’s wedding! 😄
3. HANBOK: Korean Traditional Clothing
At Korean weddings, it is common for couples’ family members to wear hanbok, the traditional Korean clothing. It has become a modern custom that the mothers of the bride and the groom wear hanbok, but some people, especially the family members of the bride and the groom, choose to wear hanbok.

The bride’s mother wears a red-shade skirt and the groom’s mother wears a blue-shade skirt at the wedding. So you could tell whose mom they are by the color of their hanbok!
Summary of Korean Wedding Guest Attire for Autumn

Whether you are going to a wedding in Korea or going to a wedding of a Korean couple (or either the bride or the groom is Korean), this article might give you an idea of what to wear to the wedding in the fall.
When attending a Korean wedding in autumn, wear something that shows your style while keeping it moderate. Also, play with the seasonal colors, and don’t forget to stay warm and comfortable!
