Crispy Chickpea Patty

Make this delicious chickpea patty that is crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside!
Servings: 4 Patties

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Dried chickpeas, soaked overnight with 3 cups of water Makes 2 1/2 cups of soaked chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup Rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp Ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Cooking oil To cook the patties with
Spices
  • 1 tbsp Nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Ground pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt

Method
 

  1. Prepare 1 cup of dried chickpeas. Rinse the chickpeas and clean them. Soak them in the water overnight or for approximately 8 hours.
  2. Remove water from the chickpeas. The soaked chickpeas would be 2 and a half cups.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of water and chickpeas in a food processor. Work the processor until it is ground roughly, but not into a purée.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a big bowl and add ground flaxseed, rolled oats, and the spices. Mix well.
  5. Prepare a frying pan and put on high heat. When the pan is heated, pour half a tablespoon of cooking oil.
  6. Divide the mixture into four and make a patty for each.

  7. Place two on the pan and cook on medium-high heat. Cook with the lid on for 5 minutes, and cook the other side for another 5 minutes with the lid on.
  8. Repeat the process and finish cooking the other two patties.
  9. Serve hot. Enjoy!
