In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of flaxseed powder with 6 tablespoons of water. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, mix the rest of the wet ingredients—the plant milk of your choice and vanilla extract. Then add the flax egg. Whisk again.
In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, protein powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cardamom (optional).
Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until combined.
Preheat the waffle maker. Lightly grease it with vegan butter.
Pour the batter and cook the waffle according to your waffle maker's instructions.
The waffles are ready when you smell the wonderful waffle smell! It should be golden brown on the outside.
Bring the waffles to a plate and add the toppings of your choice. Serve hot. Enjoy!
