Blueberries can be harvested from late spring to the fall, depending on the part of the world you are from and the kind of blueberry. In Oslo, Norway, I can usually go for wild blueberry picking in the forest from August to September.

We can find blueberries at a grocery store all year around, but the blueberries in season are not only more delicious, they have more nutrients, and they are cheaper! So if you are lucky enough to find fresh local blueberries in season, grab them right now, and let’s get right into making a blueberry latté.

We have all heard of blueberries as “superfoods.” So what kind of health benefits do blueberries have? Let’s find out!

There are two ways to make this delicious blueberry latte. One is to make blueberry cheong, which is a raw Korean syrup, and simply mix it with milk. This is the easiest way to make blueberry latté, and it comes in handy if you want to make lots of it at once for a party. The second way is to make a quick and easy version of blueberry cheong for the blueberry latté.

2. Making a Blueberry Latte with Fresh Blueberries

It’s really fun to make a blueberry cheong, but sometimes we don’t have time or space for that! Then, simply start a blueberry latte with some blueberries at hand. I recommend using fresh blueberries for vitamin C content, but you can use frozen blueberries for this too.

Blueberry Latté Recipe

Make this blueberry latté with Korean blueberry cheong and syrup!

Ingredients
  

Blueberry paste/cheong
  • 1/2 cup Blueberries
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
Blueberry Latté
  • 1 cup Oat milk
  • 1/8 cup Fiber syrup
  • Ice Cubes
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Condensed oat milk Optional for the cream on top

Method
 

Making Blueberry Paste
  1. Take all the fresh blueberries and wash them.

  2. Dab water out of the washed blueberries with a towel.
  3. In a bowl, mash the blueberries with a masher.
  4. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the mashed blueberries for a fresh taste.
  5. Pour sugar and salt into the mashed blueberries. Mix it well. Let the sugar dissolve for at least 30 minutes. Your blueberry paste is ready!
Making Blueberry Latté
  1. Take a long glass. Fill up the glass with ice cubes.
  2. Into the glass, pour oat milk. Then add a teaspoon of vanilla extract and fiber syrup. Mix everything well with a long spoon.
  3. Then pour the blueberry paste on top of the milk. If you have blueberry cheong, pour 1/2 cup of blueberry cheong into the milk.

  4. Optionally, you can make foam from condensed milk with a milk foamer.
  5. Roughly mix it with a big straw right before serving. Enjoy!

Tips for a Great Blueberry Latte Recipe

1. Use Fresh Blueberries

I love using frozen fruits and vegetables but save your frozen blueberries for something else, and let’s use fresh blueberries for cheong. Frozen fruits and vegetables are great at preserving nutrients, except vitamin C. So make blueberry cheong with fresh blueberries to intake vitamin C as well.

Moreover, it’s more fun to get fresh local blueberries in season and make the blueberry latte!

2. Iced Blueberry Latte

I love my latte, both hot and cold, most of the time. But some lattes are just better either way. This blueberry latte is better cold. When you heat the blueberries, they change their taste, and you lose some antioxidants, including vitamin C, in the process. Also, the blueberries taste more sour. So let’s make some iced blueberry lattes!

3. Optional Condensed Milk

Did you know that there is plant-based condensed milk, just like there is plant milk?

I suggest using this condensed plant milk made out of oats for easy digestion and a beautiful, subtle oat-based flavor.

I saw some condensed coconut milk, but they can add coconut flavor to your recipe, which is not very preferred when you want the other ingredients to be the center of the flavor.

So if you are vegan, or lactose-intolerant, try this condensed oat milk!

Using a good bottle of fiber syrup is great for making a latté, which adds some sweetness without adding calories. We already added quite some sugar while making the blueberry paste or cheong, so we don’t want to add any more if we could. This fiber syrup only adds sweetness to the latté while keeping it healthy!
