Expert Tips on Chickpea Patty Recipe
Aren’t bean patties just amazing? Before getting into the chickpea patty recipe, here are some tips for making super-duper delicious chickpea patties.
1. Make It with Sprouted Chickpea
Have you grown some sprouted beans or seeds? It’s a very fun way to have a little garden at your place. I live in an apartment with a small balcony, so I don’t have a garden. But that doesn’t stop me from growing something! I love growing some sprouted beans—I’ve tried sprouted soybeans, lentils, mung beans, black beans, and chickpeas, of course!

This is how much chickpeas grew within just two days in my kitchen.
How to Grow Sprouted Chickpeas
- Prepare 1 cup of chickpeas and rinse well.
- Soak them with 2 cups of water overnight.
- Next morning, drain all the water. Rinse again.
- Rinse the chickpeas gently twice a day.
- You should see sprouts on chickpeas within a few days!
- Grow them as much as you like, and cook them when you want to.
Chickpeas are one of the easiest beans to sprout, so I hope you try them. It increases nutrients in the beans, is delicious, and well, you have grown more food! Sometimes my beans grow so much sprouts that I have doubled my food. 😋
2. Store in the Freezer
I like making many chickpea patties and storing them in the freezer. You can follow this recipe and make chickpea patties and simply store them in the freezer for the next meal. They can last for months (although these patties never last for more than a month at my home). That way, whenever you want to have this delicious chickpea patty, you can take it out and cook it.
Here are two ways to serve the frozen chickpea patties.
Microwave the Frozen Chickpea Patties
Microwaved patties have a softer texture. Here’s how you can do it.
- Cover the frozen chickpea patties with a microwave-safe cover.
- Microwave the patties with a defrost setting. If not, microwave for 1 minute and see if it has melted. Microwave for every 1 minute and see if they are warm and nice.
Defreeze the Frozen Chickpea Patties in the Oven
This is my favorite way to defrost the frozen patties. Bake it in the oven! It takes longer than microwaving it, but it makes the patties crispy on the outside, and I love it.
- Preheat the oven to 390°F (200°C).
- Place the frozen chickpea patties in the oven. Reheat for 20 minutes.
