A homemade cherryade is a great summer drink for a garden party!
Introduction to Homemade Cherryade
Homemade cherryade is so incredibly simple. Using only fresh, juicy cherries and sugar, you can first make a delicious Korean-style raw cherry syrup called cherry cheong. Once you have the cherry syrup, you can make this cherryade anytime you want! This homemade cherryade is so flavorful and cannot be compared with regular store-bought cherryade, which has the artificial flavor, scent, and colors of cherries. We will make the cherryade with real, fresh cherries!
You can also make so many different kinds of drinks by mixing the syrup with any beverage—sparkling water, milk, or even just plain water—and you can have an amazing cherry drink.
How to Make Cherry Syrup for Drinks
It is so easy to make the cherry syrup for drinks. You only need some time for the sugar to melt. I will share a step-by-step guide to making cherry syrup for drinks in this article. Cherry Season
Cherries are in season from late spring to early summer. Cherries are available from May to August in most parts of the world, including Norway, where I live.
When cherries are in season, they are even more flavorful and packed with nutrients. So let’s eat lots of them by trying many different recipes with cherries. They are not only delicious but also offer many health benefits. Let’s take a look!
Health Benefits of Cherries
1. Helps with Exercise Recovery
Black cherry juice and concentrate were found to help with muscle recovery, decrease muscle pain from exercise, and prevent strength loss. It’s a perfect after-workout food, like my After-Workout Chocolate Ninja Creami Protein ice cream recipe.
2. Kidney Health
Black cherry was found to cleanse uric acid crystals from the joints, and it also reduced blood levels of uric acid, resulting in kidney health.
3. May Help with Sleep Quality
This was so interesting to me. Did you know that cherries contain melatonin, which is a substance that helps regulate our sleep and wake cycles? So a study found that people who regularly drank tart cherry juice concentrate had a noticeable increase in melatonin levels, sleep duration, and sleep quality! Then certainly, this homemade cherryade can help us with the quality of our sleep.

Homemade Cherryade
Ingredients
Method
- If you have fresh cherries, wash them thoroughly. Dab the water out of the cherries. Let them dry.
- Once the cherries are dry, take out the stems and cut them in half. Take out the stones.
- Take the cherries and roughly chop them. Mix the chopped cherries well with the sugar. Leave it for up to four days until the sugar dissolves naturally. Check it daily to see how it’s developing, and mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon.
- After a few days, you will see that the sugar has dissolved completely and has made cherry syrup! Pour the syrup into a separate glass bottle.
- Prepare a long glass. Fill up the glass with ice cubes.
- Pour 1/4 cup of cherry syrup into the glass. Pour sparkling water into the glass. Roughly mix the cup with a spoon or a straw.
- Optionally, you can now add some vanilla extract for a sweet vanilla flavor. Enjoy!

Remember to mix your cherry syrup well with the drink!
