Hello, everyone! I hope you are having a great day today. I am! Summer is nearly over, which means the lavender season is also coming to an end. I have some lavender plants on my balcony. Lavenders start to bloom in early spring and last until late summer. So the beautiful purple flowers of the lavenders on my balcony are drying out, and the leaves are changing the colors to yellow. I’ve wanted to write a post about lavender and what you can do with it, and now I don’t have much time to lose. So here it is—the lavender matcha latte recipe.
Lavenders have a heavenly sweet and floral aroma, making this lavender matcha latte a unique drink. Let’s get started with the lavender matcha latte recipe!

Lavender matcha latte became a popular drink menu at many cafes, including Starbucks.
What Is Lavender Matcha Latte?
A lavender matcha latte is a matcha latte with lavender foam on top. We don’t mix the lavender ingredients directly with matcha. Imagine the purple color from lavender mixed with the green color from the matcha. Right, it wouldn’t be so pretty. It would be gray, which is not a very appetizing color, although it would still smell divine.
The lavender matcha latte became a very popular drink when Starbucks came up with a lavender matcha latte menu. Here are some descriptions of the lavender matcha latte.
Lavender Matcha Latte Characteristics
Taste: It begins with sweet, floral lavender milk foam. Then the earthy tone of matcha latte follows.
Color: A light purple foam on top of a beautiful milky green colored matcha latte.
Scent: A distinct floral and herbaceous scent of lavender and a light earthy, fresh grass scent of matcha.
Why You Should Try Lavender Matcha Latte
The lavender matcha latte is so soothing. It makes me feel like I am in the field of lavender under the sun. Lavender is known for its therapeutic calming scent and is widely used for aromatherapy. I often like my latte iced, but this lavender matcha latte is so comforting and calming that I love it hot, too.
Taste the floral, soothing, earthy, sweet, creamy lavender matcha latte!

🌟 My Choice of Lavender Syrup – 1 🌟
Wäbry Lavender Syrup – 16.4oz (468g)
This is my first choice of lavender syrup. Organic and made with real natural ingredients, including lavender water. However, it is on the slightly more expensive side and has a light brown color. So you’ll need to add drops of purple color if you want to achieve the purple lavender foam.

🌟 My Choice of Lavender Syrup – 2 🌟
1883 Lavender Syrup with Pump 33.8 oz (1L)
Made in France, this is a great lavender syrup that has a wonderful scent, flavor, and purple hue. It’s also convenient to have a syrup pump that comes with it. Also gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, kosher, and preservative-free. It’s made with artificial flavor and scent, but they taste and smell wonderfully lavender.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I use dried or fresh lavender?
A. Great question! I would love to do the same, but using dried or fresh lavender will make lavender tea instead of lavender foam. We want to have a concentrated lavender flavor in our lavender latte, so I recommend using lavender syrup above.
Q. Can I use lavender essential oil?
A. Another great question! I would have loved to use lavender essential oil for this recipe as well, as I always have lavender essential oil at home. (I love using the lavender oil as my natural perfume.) However, essential oil is approved for topical use and generally not approved for consumption. Meaning, that you can apply lavender essential oil on your skin safely, but eating lavender essential oil may not be safe. So please use the lavender syrup for the recipe.

Method
- Use a strainer to sift the matcha. You can skip this process, but it can make mixing it with water easy without creating lumps.
- In a cup, put 1/3 cup of hot water. 80°C or 176°F is the ideal temperature to make it warm enough without damaging the matcha taste or the colors.
- Mix quickly with the whisk in a circular or zigzag motion for approximately 15 seconds. When matcha starts to foam on the top, it is ready.
- Add syrup to the matcha mixture. Set aside.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of cream. I used oat cream, but you can use any cream you like.
- Add 2 tablespoons of lavender syrup to the cream and whisk. If the syrup is not purple, you can choose to add one or two drops of purple coloring here.
- Whisk until the whipped lavender cream is made.
- To make a hot matcha latte, heat the milk and pour it into a cup.
- Pour the matcha mixture over the milk base in the cup. Top it off with lavender foam. Enjoy!
- To make an iced lavender matcha latte, fill your glass with ice. Pour milk over the ice.
- Pour the matcha mixture over the milk base in the cup. Top it off with lavender foam. Enjoy!
Expert Tips for Lavender Matcha Latte Recipe
1. Use Coloring
Some lavender syrup already has purple coloring, and that’s great! Then you can skip this tip.
But if your lavender syrup is more brown than purple, then use purple food dye to add lavender color to the lavender foam. You know, in Korea, we say that you eat with your eyes first. Adding just a few drops of purple coloring to the lavender foam will upgrade the matcha latte.
2. Add Condensed Milk
Adding condensed milk is a great way to shift the lavender matcha latte into a dessert from a drink. Add a tablespoon of condensed milk to each matcha latte and the lavender foam, and the lavender matcha latte will be sweeter and thicker. Now it’s a dessert like milkshake!
How to Serve Lavender Matcha Latte
Lavender matcha latte is a gorgeous gourmet latte already, but you can take it to the next level again. Here are some of my tips on serving the matcha latte.
1. Serve It with Rice Cakes
Serve the lavender matcha latte either hot or cold, and try it with some delicious rice cakes! Floral, herbaceous, and earthy lavender matcha latte go so well with chewy and sweet East Asian rice cakes. I love eating warm matcha latte with my sweet potato rice cakes.

2. Decorate It with Dried Lavender
Take one dried lavender flower stem and put it on top of the light purple foamy lavender matcha latte. Alternatively, you can sprinkle some dried lavender flower petals too. It looks pretty but I don’t like eating dried lavender petals so I prefer putting a whole lavender flower on my latte. I source the lavender flower from my balcony!
