Hello, my beautiful people! I hope you are having a cozy day. During the colder season, staying cozy is one of the most important things to do on my list. I shared my French butter candle recipe with Provence herbs and roasted garlic last time. For today’s blog post, I wanted to share another delicious and beautiful butter candle recipe – the maple syrup butter candle recipe. So warm, cozy, sweet, and delicious, this maple syrup butter candle will melt in your mouth.
Now, let’s get started with talking a little about edible butter candles.
Edible Butter Candles
Lighting an edible butter candle is a really fun way to make your dinner table a little more cozy and beautiful.
A Trend on TikTok
I don’t know who started this trend on TikTok first, but the edible butter candle became very popular on TikTok. That’s how I learned about an edible butter candle, too!

A candle can transform the table into a romantic and warm. So an edible butter candle is a great idea, isn’t it?
Different Flavors of Butter Candles
These butter candles are often, if not always, flavored with other ingredients and meant to be served in one sitting. The light makes the butter soft and warm, making the butter softer and more aromatic.
Here are some of the flavors of butter candles.
- Herb Butter Candle (See my candle recipe with Provence herb & roasted garlic below!)
- Honey Butter Candle (Similar to this recipe)
- Garlic Butter Candle

Important Ingredients for Edible Butter Candles
Let’s look at the two most important ingredients to make edible butter candles.
1. Natural Food-Grade Candle Wicks
My Choice for Candle Wicks
Hemp & Organic Beeswax Candle Wicks 8 inch, Phinicco
This candle wick is made from hemp and organic beeswax which are safe to eat. These ingredients also make the candles burn slower and stay sturdy and strong.
2. Butter
Naturally, to make butter candles, you’ll need butter! Unlike traditional candles that require wax, the butter itself serves as fuel, creating a warm, buttery aroma as it burns, filling the space with a cozy scent.
You can use any type of butter for this recipe, depending on your preference. Personally, I opted for a tasty vegan butter since I follow a vegan diet.

Ingredients
Method
- Prepare five cloves of garlic and peel. Bring small oven-safe cookware and put the peeled garlic cloves.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F or 200°C.
- Add 2 tablespoons of maple syrup to the garlic cloves and mix well. Sprinkle some salt.
- Close the lid on the cookware. If you don’t have the lid, close the cookware with a foil. Bake the garlic for 40 minutes.
- Prepare 1.1 pounds (500 g) of salted butter at room temperature.
- Take the roasted garlic and smash it finely with a fork.
- Prepare a glass or a cup you want to make a butter candle in. Then, add a food-grade candle wick in the middle of the cup. Hold the wick with wooden sticks or chopsticks so the wick stays straight.
- Take the butter and microwave for 10 seconds. It should melt into liquid, but not sizzling.
- When the butter is melted, add the garlic and maple syrup mixture. Mix well.
- Pour it into the glass or cup with the wick while the butter mixture is still liquid.
- Let the butter mixture cool down. Remove the wick holder.
- Your sweet maple syrup butter candle is ready. Light the candle before serving. Have a cozy dinner!
How to Serve Maple Syrup Butter Candle
Roasting the garlic with maple syrup in the oven for a long time makes the garlic so aromatic, soft, and sweet. This maple syrup butter alone can be served with many dishes, but this butter is in a candle form.
There are two ways to serve a butter candle.
1. Serve with Bread
Sweet and salty, this maple syrup butter candle can go well as a spread for almost any type of bread. Here are the types of bread that I serve the maple syrup butter candle with.
- Baguette
- Sourdough bread
- Dinner rolls
- Flatbread
2. Serve with Crackers
This maple syrup butter candle makes a great dip for crackers! As the candle burns, the butter melts and creates a warm and rich butter deep with sweet flavors of maple syrup and roasted garlic.
