A Little About Lemon Sorbet Recipe
Join the zesty world of lemon sorbet! Lemon sorbet and sherbet are classics, and therefore, I am so excited to share this lemon sorbet recipe with you all so you can enjoy this beautiful, tangy, fresh lemon sorbet on a hot summer day at home.

About Sorbet
Sorbet, with its refreshing texture and vibrant flavors, is the best dessert, especially during the summertime.
Fruit sorbets can be made as easily as freezing whole fruits and processing them in a blender. But there are some ways to upgrade your fruit sorbet! Capturing the essence of ripe fruits and enhancing their flavors is the key to making the best fruit sorbet.
By the way, sherbet is different from sorbet! Easily speaking, sorbet is naturally vegan, whereas sherbet includes milk. You can check out my lemon sherbet recipe here. Otherwise, you can also check out my other sorbet recipes below.

Why is this lemon sorbet healthy? Well, there are many reasons why, but here are some of them!

1. Health Benefits of Lemon
There are many benefits to making your own homemade lemon sorbet, and one of them is using lots of fresh lemons that are healthy for you!
One of the most obvious ones is the high vitamin C content. But the vitamin C will be destroyed when freezing lemon sorbet, so that we will skip that part. Yet, lemons still have many more health benefits to offer than just vitamin C!
Here are some interesting health benefits of lemon!
- Prevent kidney stones by providing enough citric acid
- Improve the digestive system with soluble fiber
- May help control weight
2. Low-Calorie, Low-Sugar Dessert
Lemons are low in calories—lemons have only 30 calories per 100 g (3.5 oz).
Also, one of the best things about making sorbet at home is that you can adjust the sugar content. If you find that my recipe is too sweet, please adjust the sugar content. I find this recipe to have a good balance of sweetness, freshness, and tartness, but you might have a different palate.
Moreover, instead of regular sugar, I used erythritol for lower blood sugar spikes.

To make a creamy sherbet, you need sugar. But instead of using regular sugar, I recommend using a healthy sweetener that only adds sweetness to bring out the best flavor of the ingredients and doesn’t spike your blood sugar. It also has zero calories, so it makes guilt-free frozen treats! Erythritol is also proven to be safe.
3. Vegan and Dairy-Free
Sorbet naturally doesn’t have any dairy. So if you are vegan, lactose-intolerant, or health-conscious, this lemon sorbet is the perfect dessert for you!
4. Refreshing Flavor And Scent
One of my favorite scents in the whole wide world is the citrus smell. Many citrus essential oils are proven to help our moods, like this study on yuzu oil. It has been proven to soothe and reduce anxiety!
So when you are making and eating this homemade lemon sorbet, you are not only eating but also smelling these wonderful citrus fruits.

Ingredients for Natural Homemade Lemon Sorbet
- Lemon
- Sugar
- Water
- Salt
- Yellow coloring (optional)*

That’s it! You basically need 3-5 lemons, salt, sugar, water, and yellow food coloring for color to make the best homemade lemon sorbet. You don’t need to use the yellow food color if you wish. The final result will be pale yellowish-white sorbet. I think it looks great, too!

You will get this light, pale yellow sorbet without the yellow coloring. I use the coloring with or without, depending on the color pairing I will have with my lemon sorbet.
