Hello, my lovely people! Welcome to my blog. Today I want to tell you about this gorgeous prickly pear sorbet. A prickly pear is a very exotic ingredient to me, growing up in East Asia. But when I moved to California and, interestingly enough, Norway, there were some prickly pears in the market. (You have to go to a special market to find prickly pears, but you can find them.) I was very intrigued by this cactus fruit and had to make something with it.
So let’s get into making the best prickly pear sorbet using the Ninja Creami ice cream machine!

About Prickly Pear Fruits
Q1. What are prickly pears?
Prickly pears are the fruit of the Opuntia cacti, commonly found in the Americas and the Mediterranean central area. You can eat both the Opunia cacti and the fruits of it, the prickly pears. I’ve eaten the cacti in California. It has a sour flavor that goes well with green smoothies.
The prickly pears have a unique pear-like shape and come in many colors, from white, yellow, and green when they are unripe to orange, pink, and red when they are ripe. They have some seeds inside that you have to take out while eating. The seeds are used for extracting some oils.

Tips for the Best Prickly Pear Sorbet
1. Use Ripe Pink Prickly Pears
Prickly pears come in different colors, ranging from yellow to green to orange, pink, and red, depending on the species and ripeness. But like my pear sorbet recipe or any other fruit sorbet, it is important to use the most ripe, prickly pears.
The hot pink pears also have deep, hot pink flesh inside, which makes for very interesting sorbet colors! So I recommend using ripe pink prickly pears.
You can cook a variety of dishes with all kinds of prickly pears, so use them in other dishes.
2. Strain the Seeds
There are some seeds inside the prickly pear that are hard. The seeds are used to produce oil, but they are not very welcome in sorbet.
So make sure to take out the seeds using a strainer.
